Like the first in the series Skylar Robbins: The Mystery of Shadow Hills, the cover artwork for this title also needed to appeal to tweens. It was important to the author to convey an image of the home where the mystery takes place. It was described as being in disrepair, and of such odd architecture that no one could quite tell if it had three or four floors.
